Hunt Outcomes & Success Stories
The Hunts Behind HuntactX
Before HuntactX existed, the knowledge behind it was built in the mountains guiding hunters out west.
Years of guiding experience, working with Jackson Outfitters, and helping hunters pursue big game has shaped the strategies used inside HuntactX today.
These are real hunts and real outcomes from the field.

Brandon came west looking for his first mule deer. The goal was a mature buck and a hunt that matched his ability and expectations.
After selecting the right unit and timing the hunt with pre-rut movement, the plan came together.

“I was fortunate to hunt with Terry in Colorado for his past October 2025. Once successful in the draw for my first choice mule deer buck tag, I contacted Jackson Outfitters and got my hunt booked for 2nd rifle. Terry was my guide for the hunt and did a fantastic job. He was very knowledgeable about the unit, deer activity, field scoring bucks, and put in work with scouting prior to the hunt. Terry was able to glass my buck and multiple other bucks up on a couple of occasions before I arrived. The night before season he took me out and was able to find the buck again and put a game plan together for the first hunt on opening day the next morning. With his knowledge of the terrain and the habits of mature bucks he was able to get us in position to find the buck at about 8:30am that morning. We put in the hours and sat all day on the buck as the buck took cover for the day. Before last legal shooting light the buck reappeared and Terry did a great job spotting my shot and maintaining visual and mark location on the buck once I took my 348yd shot. Terry went right to work with recovery and skinned and caped the deer cleanly while loading quarters into game bags. Terry was diligent about becoming familiar with my expectations and comfort with age class and antler quality of desired bucks, the physicality of the hunt, and my comfortable shooting distances. He put all the pieces together as a great professional and helped me earn my first mule deer buck while checking all the boxes. I also might add that he was able to do all of this with me on public land. A big thanks to him and Jackson Outfitters. Now just the wait for my taxidermist to give me that call that we all hold anticipation for and bring him home for the wall.”
Colorado Elk | MUZZLELOADER
Colorado’s muzzleloader season takes place right in the middle of the elk rut. Bulls are vocal, aggressive, and actively gathering cows, which can make for some of the most exciting hunting of the entire season. At the same time, muzzleloader hunts require getting close and making the most of limited shooting opportunities.
The strategy on this hunt focused on locating bugling bulls early each morning and working into position using the terrain and wind to stay undetected. After several close encounters and hearing multiple bulls across the basin, one herd bull began responding aggressively to calls and started working closer.
Using the cover of dark timber and the chaos of the rut, the hunter slipped into range as the bull pushed cows through a small opening. When the moment came, the hunter made a solid shot with the muzzleloader. After a short recovery, the bull was on the ground and the work of packing him out began.
Outcome
• Mature bull elk harvested
• Colorado muzzleloader season during the rut
• Guided hunt with Jackson Outfitters

“Terry Albright guided my wife and I on a great Colorado elk hunt. My wife and I had the opportunity to work with him during a recent hunt, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every respect.
From the outset, his work ethic was evident. He approached each day with preparation, focus, and a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure we were in the best possible position for success. His effort never wavered, regardless of conditions or circumstances, and it was clear that he takes great pride in delivering a high-quality experience.
What stood out most, however, was his genuine care—particularly for my wife’s success. He was patient, encouraging, and highly attentive to her needs, ensuring she felt confident and supported throughout the hunt. This level of personal investment made a meaningful difference in our overall experience.
He consistently demonstrated respect in every interaction, both professionally and personally. His demeanor fostered trust and comfort, which is invaluable in a setting that requires teamwork and clear communication.
In addition, his ability to develop thoughtful and effective approach plans was impressive. He carefully considered terrain, weather, and elk behavior to position us strategically, always adapting as needed. His deep knowledge of the area and of elk hunting as a whole was evident in every decision he made, and it clearly contributed to a well-executed and enjoyable hunt.
I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone seeking a skilled, professional, and dedicated elk hunting guide. He brings together expertise, integrity, and a client-first mindset in a way that is not easy to find.”
Colorado Elk | Archery
Early archery elk season in Colorado is one of the most exciting times to hunt the mountains. Bulls are beginning to respond to calls, herds are still active in summer patterns, and the hunt often turns into a chess match between bugling bulls and patient hunters.
On this hunt, the strategy focused on covering country early in the mornings and evenings while locating vocal bulls. After a few days of working through several drainages and getting into multiple bugling elk, the hunter finally got the opportunity we had been waiting for.
Using calling to pull the bull closer through dark timber, the hunter was able to slip into range and make a clean shot on a bull.
Outcome
• Bull elk harvested
• Colorado archery season
• Guided hunt with Jackson Outfitters

“Terry and I have had two successful seasons together archery elk hunting in Colorado Wilderness areas. As a new elk hunter Terry has been great to hunt with, capable of going into as tough of country as needed, with a great sense for what the elk are doing. He's honest about hunt conditions, and communicates well creating a plan of attack for each day. Terry has a solid toolset to help an elk hunter be successful, he is an excellent caller, has keen eyes for glassing, and moves through the woods with intent. As an elk hunting guide - Terry is going to be able to give you the best opportunities available within the constraints of your abilities and the hunt itself. The rest will be up to you”
Alaska Moose | DIY Hunt
Some of the most valuable lessons in hunting come from doing it yourself.
One of my most memorable hunts was a DIY moose hunt in Alaska. It required a lot of planning, understanding the terrain, coordinating logistics, and preparing for the kind of remote conditions that Alaska is known for.
Once in the field, the hunt became a test of patience and persistence. Long days were spent glassing openings, calling into thick country, and still hunting through swampy terrain.
After days of grinding it out and staying committed to the plan, everything finally came together when a bull responded to calling and gave me the opportunity I had been working toward.
Outcome
• DIY Alaska moose hunt
• Remote wilderness conditions
• Extensive planning and logistics
