Hunt Outcomes & Success Stories
The Hunts Behind HuntactX
Before HuntactX existed, the knowledge behind it was built in the mountains guiding hunters out west.
Years of guiding experience, working with Jackson Outfitters, and helping hunters pursue big game has shaped the strategies used inside HuntactX today.
These are real hunts and real outcomes from the field.
Colorado Mule Deer — Guided Hunt
A hunter came west looking for his first mule deer. The goal was a mature buck and a hunt that matched his ability and expectations.
After selecting the right unit and timing the hunt with peak rut movement, the plan came together. The hunter connected on a mature buck after several days of glassing and patient spot-and-stalk work.
Outcome
• Mature mule deer buck harvested
• Guided hunt with Jackson Outfitters
• Strategic unit and timing selection

Colorado Elk | rifle Season
Rifle elk season brings a different kind of challenge. The rut has mostly passed, pressure is higher, and elk often move into thicker, harder-to-access country. Success often comes down to patience, glassing, and understanding how elk react once the season opens.
On this hunt, the strategy focused on covering country and locating elk that had pushed into darker timber pockets after early season pressure. After several days of glassing and moving carefully through bedding areas, the hunter got the opportunity he came west for.
The shot came together on a mature bull after a long day on the mountain and a well-executed stalk through heavy timber.
Outcome
• Mature bull elk harvested
• Colorado rifle season
• Guided hunt with Jackson Outfitters

Alaska Moose | DIY Hunt
Some of the most valuable lessons in hunting come from doing it yourself.
One of my most memorable hunts was a DIY moose hunt in Alaska. It required a lot of planning, understanding the terrain, coordinating logistics, and preparing for the kind of remote conditions that Alaska is known for.
Once in the field, the hunt became a test of patience and persistence. Long days were spent glassing river bottoms, calling into thick country, and navigating challenging terrain in true wilderness conditions.
After days of grinding it out and staying committed to the plan, everything finally came together when a bull responded to calling and gave me the opportunity I had been working toward.
Outcome
• DIY Alaska moose hunt
• Remote wilderness conditions
• Extensive planning and logistics
Why Guided Hunts Often Produce Better Outcomes
A guided hunt does not guarantee success, but the right outfitter, in the right unit, during the right season can dramatically improve a hunter’s odds compared to going in blind. HuntactX helps hunters make those decisions with more clarity by evaluating draw odds, hunt quality, terrain, access, season timing, and overall fit.
